Gemma is a partner in Meier Farms, a mixed grazing and drylands cropping enterprise in South Western NSW and a full-time parent and part-time freelance writer and consultant, community creative and place-maker with extensive experience in Business Development, Issues Management and Communications. She is actively involved in sustainability projects and is the founder of the Grong Grong Earth Park a community led up-cycled and natural playscape for all ages. She is interested in creative and open public spaces, levers for change, and wants to see a radical rethink on planetary and people care. She is the Chair of charity FoodSwell, and Deputy Chair of Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc – the umbrella environmental organisation for the Murrumbidgee Valley (comprising around 84,000km2). Her property at PineGrove is the site of Australia’s first large scale solar garden. Oh, and things keep her awake at night.
